DEFENSMART SMS Messaging Program

DEFENSMART does not offer text alerts. Inquiry notifications are sent by email. This page is a historical record of the former SMS opt-in process. It does not enroll anyone.

DEFENSMART is an advertising and inquiry platform operated by Daniels Digital Labs LLC. It is not a law firm. SMS is not a current notification channel. It is not a consumer signup program and it is not available to the general public.

This page documents the SMS opt-in process for carrier/compliance review. SMS enrollment occurs only through an authenticated DEFENSMART attorney account.

The examples below are informational only. They do not enroll anyone in SMS, collect a phone number, or change any account. Viewing this page is not consent.

Who receives DEFENSMART text messages

Only a participating attorney who has an approved DEFENSMART account can receive these messages. Messages concern criminal-defense inquiries that match the attorney's subscribed coverage, plus a one-time number verification code and limited account or service notices. Consumers do not opt in to this program.

No attorney receives SMS merely because a mobile number was supplied. Attorney registration does not offer a text-alert choice. A historical delivery preference is not SMS consent.

How attorneys opt in

Enrollment is closed. DEFENSMART does not send text alerts. The steps below are a historical record only.

The attorney signs in at https://defensmart.com.
Open Profile and locate Instant SMS. The same disclosure also appears on the attorney dashboard when text alerts were requested and consent is still incomplete.
Enter a U.S. mobile number. Entering the number does not opt the attorney in.
Choose Send verification code. DEFENSMART texts a one-time code that expires in 10 minutes. Choose Verify number. Delivery requires a verified number.
The SMS consent box is unchecked by default. The attorney must affirmatively check it. The production disclosure is shown beside the box.
Choose Save notifications. DEFENSMART records the opt-in with a timestamp, the disclosure version, and the source attorney dashboard.

SMS still is not sent unless the attorney is approved, Instant SMS is an active paid add-on, the number is verified, and the attorney has not replied STOP. Consent is not a condition of joining the attorney network or of receiving inquiries by email.

Opting out

Reply STOP to opt out. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT are treated the same way.

The production confirmation is:

DEFENSMART: You are unsubscribed from inquiry SMS. Email and matching are unchanged. Reply START to re-enable SMS (paid add-on still required).

The attorney can also clear the consent box on Profile and choose Save notifications. Opting out of SMS does not cancel the account, the subscription, or email alerts.
